C & R Asphalt can perform the lightest of excavation projects to the heaviest. We have the equipment availability and range to grade 10 Cubic yards or to haul in 4000 Cubic yards and grade it to perfection.

C & R Asphalt has the capability to stake and survey the area to be excavated, to ensure that the proper grade is achieved.

In the past few years C & R Asphalt has completed approximately $6,000,000 in excavation projects, ranging from Restaurants, Banks, Mini Storage Complexes to a $10,000,000 Fayette Mall Expansion in Lexington, KY .

If you would ask some of our clients what makes C & R Asphalt THE company to execute and complete one's excavation project, they would tell you that it is our attention to detail and being able to give them the turn-key job.

Grading and Rock

The Lexington area has experienced a large amount of development in the last decade. Along with the growth and development comes new parking lots. "New Construction" as we call it has become a large part of C & R's sales over the years. So much so that we have designated an entire crew (The Rock Crew) to the light earth grading, excavating and the installation and compaction of rock. This crew prepares the area to be paved for one of our Two Paving Crews to move in and start the actual asphalt lay down.

The Rock Crews work is generated mainly in the form of sub contracts from general contractors, site contractors, and excavating contractors. Other forms of work come from existing parking lot expansions, new streets and farm roads.

Preparation of Sub grade: All-debris, vegetation, or other perishable materials shall be removed from the job site, except for trees or shrubs designated for preservation. The site to be paved shall be graded to the required section and all excess material removed from the location of the work. Material in soft spots shall be removed to the depth required to provide a firm foundation and shall be replaced with a material equal to, or better than, the best sub grade material on the site. The entire sub grade area shall be thoroughly compacted at the lowest moisture content at which a handful of the soil can be molded by a firm closing of the hand. The surface of the sub grade after compaction shall be hard, uniform, smooth and true to grade and cross-section. If specified by the owner or his engineer prior to placing the base course, designated sub grade areas shall be treated with a soil sterilant at the rate specified by the manufacturer to prevent the growth of weeds. If specified, the sub grade shall be primed.

Storm Drainage

In the past few years C & R Asphalt has incorporated into its broad range of services another item. A service that lately seems to go hand in hand with any successful project, Storm Drainage.

In the last decade, Lexington has cracked down on drainage related issues; the guidelines and codes have become very tight, and for good reason. With the growth Lexington and surrounding areas have experienced, there is a need for a large-scale plan to contain the watershed.

C & R Asphalt will help you meet your needs to contain your personal watershed. We can install a 2' x 2' Catch Basin in your parking lot, a concrete trench drain in front of your barn or a dozen, 15' Curb Wets in your subdivision street. We can install the pipe associated with these items also, whether it is concrete pipe, corrugated metal pipe or high density PVC.

Whatever your storm drainage needs are, C & R Asphalt can help.
